Work For Me Wednesday's, It's our Anniversary and Crepes! Another Contest

I had a little adventure yesterday! I finally decided to head over to the liquor store to buy some Vodka. First I decided I better call my daughter to see what kind I needed. So I called and asked her and after she picked herself up off the floor (she knew my only trips to the liquor store were for boxes) she asked me if I was having a bad day? I told her no, I had heard you could use it to make linen spray! That didn't seem to surprise her that much! So she suggested Smirnoff. So, I made the trip over and bought a big bottle and it the gal (that worked there, turns out I knew her) put it in a brown paper bag. Yup, you know me, I told her it was for linen spray not for drinking. I live in a small town, word gets around! So, the rest of my Vodka is in the brown paper bag in the back of my closet.

To make the linen spray fill a spray bottle with Vodka and add a few drops of essential oil. I bought my oil at WalMart, it was on the aisle with the candles.

Be sure and go over to We Are That Family to see what others are doing for Work For Me Wednesday!

Today is our 29th wedding anniversary! Yup, kind of fun, this year it's 29 years on the 29th!

Sometimes it doesn't seem that we've been married all that long! I still get excited when he walks into a room, I still like to cuddle up and watch tv with him (but only if it's something I like!), but then he doesn't like to watch some of my shows, and I don't like some of his. We did personality tests once, and we could not be more opposite! But they say opposites attract! We're going off in the RV for a little time together. I don't know where, he's going to surprise me, but I do know we're taking the canoe, so there will be water!

I told the kids how good crepes were, so we decided to make them for breakfast this morning. I haven't made them in years! They really are pretty easy, but it is good to have some help. The kids and I had a lot of fun making these. They are very versatile too! You can leave out the sugar and use them in a casserole. Just add a little meat and sauce and roll them up. Then you can serve them with a little more sauce over the top and a sprinkling of cheese! I'll have to make them for dinner one night soon!

Crepes

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups milk
2 eggs

In a mixing bowl whisk dry ingredients. In smaller bowl whisk eggs, add milk and melted butter and whisk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until mixed well.

Heat a frying pan (I used cast iron) to medium heat and spray with Pam. When the pan is nice and hot pour about 1/4 cup crepe batter onto pan, then pick up the pan and tilt it from side to side coating the bottom of the pan with the batter. Let it cook until it starts to bubble, then flip the crepe over with a pancake turner and cook it until it starts to brown.

Flip it onto a plate, then to continue making more, you can put a paper towel between each crepe and stack them up. If you have help, have the other person spread the crepe with butter, then sprinkle it with powdered sugar and roll it up.

At my house everyone made their own while I cooked them. Sloan put chocolate chips on hers along with the butter and powdered sugar then rolled it up! She said it was delicious! Have you noticed that she always finds a way to work chocolate into our breakfast?

Congratulations on your anniversary! We just celebrated 22. My hubby loves to make crepes for breakfast on weekends. I'm not a vodka drinker, but this is now the second post (the first was to make your own vanilla extract)...I may have to make a midnight trip (if they are open that late...)

Congrats. Have some fun.

I am starting a NEW Mr. Linky party. It will begin on Aug 10th so everyone will have a week and a half to think about their first post. I have a poll up for votes on which button should be the new button. The "party" is called The Knock Off Knock Out-where THRIFTY meets creative sensation. Go over and learn more about the new weekly event and I would appreciate if you would cast your vote and HELP pick the new button design and its the last week for the July GIVE-A-Way, if you would like to be a part of that event..
