Eventually Year!

My husband has remodeled several bathrooms, some for family some for friends. Yup, he’s a regular Mr. Fixit when it comes to DYI projects!  Some of the projects he was paid for and some he just did to help out. It was a little hard for me to stay silent about our two unfinished bathrooms through all the renovations he did on other bathrooms. I kept telling myself that ours would be finished eventually. Well, guess what this year is? It’s Eventually Year for me! I was so excited when my sweet hubby took me to a local store to pick out some tile for a tile surround. So many beautiful tiles and tile borders to choose from!  I am so glad that I have a husband that is a do it yourselfer! He can tackle any kind of building or remodeling project and even works on cars. My hubby claims that having the right tools is one of the secrets to getting a job done right.

My hubby has a lot of tools that he has collected over the years that really help him do all of the home improvement projects that he’s done for us and for others.  He has always been a Sears shopper for his tools because he says that they’re quality can’t be beat.

So if you hear the sounds of hammers and saws when you pass by my house you’ll know that my hubby is in using his Sears tools and I’m walking around grinning ear to ear because this is Eventually Year!

I Won A Writing Contest At Sears, Again!

I’m doing a little happy dance here! I can’t believe they picked another one of my articles!

Cookie Baking Queen With A Very Busy Oven

Happy Holidays! Here’s a December treat from Sears Hometown Stores, Sears Home Appliance Showroom, and Sears Appliance & Hardware Stores. This month we asked a question: "What’s your favorite holiday recipe and what cooking appliance do you use to prepare it?"

oatmeal and raisin cookiesI love to bake cookies. In fact, that’s the first thing I turn to when I pick up a cookbook! I love it when recipes have pictures too! I don’t think my family minds my love of baking cookies. It’s very seldom that our cookie jar is empty! Sometimes, I bake a batch of cookies in the morning while I’m fixing breakfast so that my sweet hubby can have fresh cookies in his lunch. Yup, I still like to make my family a hot breakfast every morning. My kids are swimmers so they tend to eat a lot of snacks and I think my cookies are so much better than store bought! I can also load my cookie dough up with whole wheat flour, coconut oil, nuts, raisins and oatmeal to makes them a little healthier.

I would say that my oven gets more use than any other appliance in my kitchen and I am so glad that we bought it at Sears. Our local home town store is where we like to buy our appliances. They have such a great showroom to choose from! I can trust my oven to get me through my entire cookie baking!

I know you’re thinking that Chocolate Chip Cookies aren’t very holiday~ish, but I make them with an assortment of other cookies and these are the ones that go first! So, I figured I must be doing something right!

Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
1/2 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 or 2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups white whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup chocolate chips.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix butter, oil, and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add the flour and salt. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop onto cookie sheet with a cookie scoop.

Bake 8-10 minutes until just golden brown.  Don't over bake if you want chewy cookies.
