Bubble Pizza

P4040159

Sloan came home all excited the other day because she had made Bubble Pizza in her FACS class at school (Family and Consumer Science). We use to call it Home Ec. Sloan is my picky eater, so I was happy that she had made something at school that she liked. I bought all the ingredients and she made it at home. It’s really fun to eat because it pulls apart like Monkey Bread.

Bubble Pizza

2 tubes of biscuits

1 cup Marinara sauce, I used Ragu

Pepperoni

2 cups Grated Cheese

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9x13 pan with Pam. Cut the biscuits into quarters and put them into the bottom of the pan. It’s ok if there are gaps in-between.  Pour the sauce on and coat all the biscuits. Layer the pepperoni on. Bake for 15 minutes. Cover with the cheese and bake about 3 more minutes.

Southwestern Pizza

PA271151I love this recipe, it’s pretty simple to make too. I also love how easy the crust is and you don’t have to roll it out or anything, just pour it into the pan! This makes up pretty fast.

Southwestern Pizza

1 1/4 cups flour

3/4 cup cornmeal

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon cayenne powder

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

1/4 cup oil

1 egg

1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch pan with Pam.

In a large bowl whisk all the dry ingredients along with the cheese. Mix in the milk, oil and egg and mix well. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Topping

1 pound hamburger

2 envelopes taco seasoning mix

2 cups sour cream

2 cups cheddar cheese, grated and divided

1 can corn, drained

1 can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 cup salsa

In a frying pan brown the hamburger. Drain. Add 1 of the taco seasoning packets and 2/3 cup water. Cook on low uncovered for 5 minutes.

In a small bowl mix the sour cream and the other taco seasoning packet. Pour this over the crust.

In another bowl mix the beans, corn and salsa. Layer half of the meat mixture and half of the bean and corn mixture then 1 cup of the cheese and repeat with remaining ingredients. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Whole Wheat Pizza Crust and Fun Follow Friday

I'm doing Fun Follow Friday, I want new friends! Please follow me on Google Reader!

I wanted to make a whole wheat pizza crust the other night and I came up with this recipe. I got the dough all made, then I had to go run an errand with my sweet hubby, so Chauncey ended up making the pizza. I thought he did a pretty good job. He even made some bread sticks out of the leftover dough.
  • Whole Wheat Pizza Crust
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over the top, and let stand for about 10 minutes, until foamy.

Stir the olive oil into the yeast mixture, then mix in the whole wheat flour, salt and 1 cup of the all-purpose flour until dough starts to come together knead for about 10 minutes. Place dough in an oiled bowl, and turn to coat the surface. Cover loosely with a towel, and let stand in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

When the dough is doubled, tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, form into a tight ball. Let rise for about 45 minutes, until doubled.

Heat the oven to 425 degrees. Push dough out onto a greased cookie sheet until it is stretched from edge to edge. Top pizza with your favorite toppings, such as sauce, cheese, meats, or vegetables.

Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, until the crust is crisp and golden at the edges, and cheese is melted on the top.

Hi! I'm a late follower from Social Parade! I hope you'll follow me back! I have some awesome giveaways going on right now!

Congratulations Kim! And I want to thank everyone for entering the giveaway and I want to thank Alex and Ani for letting me do this fun review/giveaway!

I got the recipe for these hot pockets from a friend at church. We made them at YW's one night and the girls loved them. I decided to make them for dinner because everyone can just make their own the way they want that was a lot less work for me! All I had to do was make up the dough. I set out leftover chopped ham, pepperoni slices, grated cheese and spaghetti sauce. You could use what ever you have in the fridge!

I used the leftover dough to make some cinnamon rolls. They turned out really good. This is a really easy dough to make and it would also make great rolls. I love how fast it makes up.

Hot Pockets

Dough
2 cups warm water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons yeast

Let yeast dissolve in sugar and warm water, then add.

2 cups flour
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil

Mix until smooth then add~

1 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 cups flour

Mix until well mixed then knead in mixer for 8 minutes. If you don't have a mixer that can knead bread you can skip this step. Place in an oiled bowl and cover with a towel, let rise for 20 minutes.

Punch down. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll into circles (we actually just use our hands to pull and stretch the dough) and fill with desired fillings. I like to brush the tops with melted butter and minced garlic or garlic powder. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

Fillings~

Browned hamburger, onions, peppers and A~1 Sauce and cheese

Pepperoni, cheese and pizza sauce

Ham, pineapple, cheese and and sauce

I found this recipe over at Jomade the other day and I knew right away my family would love it! What's not to love when it involves pizza. If you have a bread machine you'll want to check out Jo's recipe on her blog, I don't have a bread machine so I changed the directions for making it in my mixer. The crust on this pizza is so good with all the garlic butter on it, yum!

Homemade Bracelets out of Shoelaces and Pepperoni Pizza!

I'm hooking up with My Frugal Family for Talented Tuesday! Be sure and check out all the other projects!

I found this great tutorial on Obsessively Stitching a while back for these super cute, super easy bracelets! They're made out of shoe laces from Dollar Tree! Yup, $1 made 5 bracelets! I made them for Sloan, and she gave one to a friend and I still have the other shoe lace left to make more! You just need a little bit of elastic and some rhinestones. I couldn't find the rhinestones at the Dollar Tree the day I was there, but they did have silver metallic puffy paint in a package with some other colors, so I just bought that. It gives it some sparkle and it's easy. I just put it on the shoe lace the night before and let it dry overnight.

Pepperoni Pizza Crust

1 cup hot, but not super hot, water
1 tablespoon yeast
2-3 cups flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt

Toppings

1 small can tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 package pepperoni, we like the Kroger brand
3-4 cups mozzarella cheese

For crust

In a mixer fitted with a dough hook, place the hot water. Sprinkle the yeast and sugar over the top. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add 1 cup of flour and the salt and mix, adding more flour to make a soft dough that just pulls away from the sides of the mixer. Knead for 5 minutes. Put in a greased bowl and cover with a towel and let sit for about 20 minutes.

Heat oven to 425 degrees and spray a cookie sheet with Pam. Work dough out onto cookie sheet with your hands.

Mix the tomato sauce with the seasonings and spread half of it onto the pizza dough, cover with pepperoni and cheese. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until it starts to brown.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza

Monday the kids had spring break, so I took Sloan with me on our run. She stayed and played on the tree swing for a while, then at the creek, while I ran up the trail to the White Rock Trail, then I ran back down. We both had a lot of fun. I thought I'd show you pictures of me on my run.

Ok, here we go! I think I usually start of on my right foot because I'm right handed.

I love this trail! It has all kinds of surfaces, leaves, rocks, bridges....

Just plain dirt!

Time to cross the creek!

Lots of nice cold mountain water!

I took the bridge, I use to wade through the creek, but then a bridge was put in.

Here's the little sign for White Rock, but we're turning back. Now it's all downhill!

3 Roads diverged in a Yellow Wood*, and I took the one that went downhill!

Not this one, today!

Yup, this is the way back! I love the way these trees have grown together!

Ok, we're going back now.

I love these big rocks in the trail! Like big pavers!

I wonder who lives in this hole? It looks like a nice little place for an animal to live.

Ok, we're all done! Wasn't that fun! Now you know just what I look like when I'm out running! lol

Chauncey and I were looking at a Taste Of Home magazine at the eye doctor's office yesterday and we saw a recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza. We decided we had to come home and make it for dinner. I didn't copy the recipe, but this is what we came up with. This is my favorite pizza crust recipe to make, it doesn't even have to raise if you don't have time.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza

Crust
1 1/2~2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon yeast
1 cup hot water, not too hot
1 teaspoon sugar

Toppings

1/2 ~3/4 cup Alfredo Sauce
2 cups chopped ham
2 cups chopped chicken nuggets
3 cups Swiss Cheese, grated
3 cups Mozzarella Cheese, grated

In a mixer fitted with a dough hook, pour water. Sprinkle with yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add 3/4 cup of the flour and the salt and mix. Add more four until dough comes away from sides of the mixer. Set the mixer to knead for 5 minutes. Remove dough to a greased bowl and cover and let rise. The warmer it is out the faster it will raise. Mine took about 20 minutes. Pat dough out into a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with Pam.

Spread Alfredo sauce over dough and sprinkle with the meats, then the cheeses. Bake at 400 degrees for 15~20 minutes or until crust is starting to brown.

I thought I'd give the the real version of The Road Not Taken. I love this poem. One of my boys taped it on the bathroom mirror when he was in High School so he could memorize it. I think we all have now!

Robert Frost. 1875~

The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 1

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Deep Dish Pizza

I was looking at recipes the other day and I decided to make a deep dish pizza. I've made them before, but I always used a 9x13 inch pan. This time I decided I wanted a round deep dish pizza. So, after consulting with my daughter (over at Tuffet) we came up with the idea of using a cheesecake pan. My sweet husband came in to help me with the cheese, and we decided to use mozzarella cheese sticks in the edges and grated muenster cheese (that needed to be used up, you could use what ever you have on hand, the pizza won't mind!) on the top. I also shopped my food storage in the basement for some of the filling ingredients.

Deep Dish Pizza

Pizza Crust

1 cup hot water, not boiling
1 heaping tablespoon yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2- 2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt

In a mixer fitted with a dough hook, pour the water, sprinkle the yeast over the water and the sugar over the yeast. Let sit 5 minutes. Add the whole wheat flour and 1 cup of flour. Mix adding salt and more flour to form a soft dough. Let knead in mixer for 5 minutes. If you don't have a bread mixer, you can do this dough by hand and you don't have to knead the dough if you don't have time. Put the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise for 20 to 30 minutes.
While it's rising make the filling.
Grease a cheesecake pan and with your hands (I put some oil on my hands to work the dough) work dough in pan and up the sides.

Pizza Filling

1 pound bulk breakfast sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
15.5 oz can manwich (sloppy joe mix) or tomato sauce
8 oz can mushrooms, drained

Brown the sausage. Drain and add the onion and green pepper. Stir and cook until softened. Add the manwich, or if your using tomato sauce you'll want to add some salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to taste. Pour into crust.

Pizza Toppings

1 1/2 cups muenster cheese, grated
3 string cheese sticks cut in half length ways
Lay the cheese sticks around the inside edge of the pan and pull the pizza dough up and under the edge of the cheese stick. Sprinkle the cheese over the top. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes.
