I wanted to share a little tip with you today. I don't fry foods very often, but I save the oil in a jar in the refrigerator when I do. Here's the sneaky part. I use it in my homemade bread. Don't worry if you've fried fish in it or onions, you won't taste it in the bread. Sneaky huh? Don't forget to stop by We Are That Family for some more great ideas!

I'm linking up with Smart and Trendy Moms for It's a Social Parade, Wednesday Link Up. Be sure and click on the link and visit some great blogs!

Did I ever tell you how lazy I can be? I wanted to make some bread and I had a bunch of recipes in my email to try, but I was to lazy to go through them all, so i grabbed an old cookbook and found this one. This bread is fantastic! I gave a loaf to our neighbor and he said it's one of the best I've made. I always give them bread when I make some. I think it's because he'll tell me how good it is, and I have to beg my sweet hubby to tell me how he likes it. So I guess as soon as our neighbor says one of my loaves of bread isn't that great he might not be getting any more! lol

Wheat and White Bread

1 package yeast
1/4 cup very warm water
2 1/2 cups very warm water
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup oil
3 cups whole wheat flour
5 cups flour

In a mixer fitted with a dough hook place the 1/4 cup water. Sprinkle the yeast over it and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add the rest of the water, brown sugar, oil and the whole wheat flour. Mix for 2 minutes, adding the salt and some of the white flour to make a smooth batter. Add the rest of the flour or enough to make a dough that just pulls away from the sides of the mixer. Knead in the mixer for 8 minutes. Place in a large well oiled bowl and set in a warm place (covered with a towel) until doubled in size. I put mine on the stove with the oven on warm.

On an oiled surface roll dough into two loaves and place in loaf pans sprayed with Pam. Let rise covered with a towel for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove to racks to cool.
