Amish Friendship Bread Starter Quick Biscuits

I was thumbing through one of my cookbooks and I found a recipe for Quick Sourdough Biscuits and I decided to give it a try with my Amish Friendship Bread Starter, because it's pretty much the same thing as a sourdough starter. These biscuits only have a cup of flour and they were really easy to make. My family loves breakfast sandwiches, so I made them into egg, cheese and bacon biscuits. The texture of these biscuits is really nice, and I think I'll be making them a lot!

My sweet husband bought me two of these cute little cast iron frying pans a few years ago, and they are perfect for cooking an egg for a breakfast sandwich!

Amish Friendship Bread Starter Quick Biscuits

1 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Measure all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and whisk to mix. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender. With a wooden spoon, mix in the Amish Friendship Bread Starter, until just mixed. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 30 seconds. Pat out and cut into circles. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 425 for 15 - 20 minutes or until browned.

I just saw your blog on foodie blogroll and thought the description of your blog sounded interesting. :)

I love those mini-cast iron frying pans! Those would be SO cute to actually serve the eggs out of at a breakfast get together (but who has 10 mini cast iron frying pans?!?)
