Mix In The Pan Brownies and a contest!

Check out the giveaway at Project Pretty!

I came across this recipe a while back and thought it was interesting, so I gave it a try. These were definitely easy to make. The dough was super thick, and the top of the brownies looked a little different after they were baked, but they were rich and chocolaty! Sorry the pictures I took didn't turn out real well.

Mix In The Pan Brownies

1 1/3 cups shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup cocoa
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, my family doesn't like nuts

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Take a 9x13 inch pan and put the shortening in it and put it in the oven until it melts. Remove from the oven and add the sugar and mix. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well with a wooden spoon.

Now, here's where you have a choice to make, the directions I have say to put all the dry ingredients in a sifter and sift it into the sugar mixture. .I mixed the dry ingredients in a bowl with a whisk, then add this to the pan. I like the sifter idea, but I don't have one. Now smooth the top out and bake it for 30 minutes.

Head on over to Today's Giveaway for a chance to win a cashmere shawl from Nimli!
