I won a contest, amd a Great Recipe For Homemade White Bread, another contest!

I won a contest a while back! I was so excited! It was from Living Locurto for a gift certificate from Hostess Jo for $50. There were so many great things to choose from, but I decided to pick two really cute aprons. Here is my daughter Sloan modeling them for me!

I love this apron, it's a fun vintage print, and I love the red trim!

This apron has really fun cupcakes with pink trim!

I had planned to make bread yesterday. I even had a recipe all picked out, and I changed my mind. I decided I wanted to make a white bread, which I never do! So I pulled out a Best of Cooking Light Cookbook and I found this recipe. It's yummy, especially hot from the oven with butter and honey. Well, I didn't have it with butter and honey, but the family did! They ate all but this little ole heal, so I ate the heal! There's nothing like the smell of homemade bread baking!

Homemade White Bread

1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 2/3 cup milk (100 to 110 degrees)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
4 3/4 cup flour
1 1/2 salt

In a small bowl pour the milk (I used powdered milk mixed with really hot water) and sprinkle with the yeast then the sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Put 4 cups of flour and the salt in a mixer with a bread hook attachment. Mix. Add the milk mixture and the butter and mix well. Add more flour if needed, so the dough isn't sticky. Let knead in the mixer for 8 minutes. Put into a large bowl sprayed with Pam. Cover and let rise until double.

Punch down dough and let rest for 5 minutes. Form into 2 loaves and put in loaf pans sprayed with Pam. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1 hour. I like to turn my oven onto 350 and let them sit on the stovetop to stay warm.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove pans from the oven, remove the bread and let it cool on wire racks.

Head over to A Soft Place to Land for a great contest!

The 'heels' of bread are what we fight over in my house. It is the best part of the bread!

I love the heel too! I won't fight with anyone though, I just take them for myself!

I would not have passed on the butter and the honey. Hot bread out of the oven with butter is the best! And I could never be deprived of such a ooey goodness.

I am so glad you are so very strong and can be satisfied with just the delicious bread.

I'll bet your house was smelling awesome and your neighbors were jealous!

Take care.
