We have puppies! Belgian Waffles and a great contest!

Our dog Fifi (miniature schnauzer) had puppies two weeks ago! This is her before they were born.

She had six, two girls and 4 boys. They just opened their eyes yesterday! They'll be ready to adopt by the end of August!


She's so cute!

Now, on to the waffles!



I found this recipe for Belgian Waffles in a cookbook. It said that this recipe actually came from Belgium. It has a lot more sugar in it than my usual waffle recipe, but my family loved them! I don't have a Belgian Waffle Iron, so I just used my regular one.


Belgian Waffles

2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Syrup or berries

In a bowl whisk the dry ingredients. In another bowl whisk the egg yolks, add the milk and vanilla and whisk. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined. Beat the egg whites until fluffy and fold into the batter. Bake in hot waffle iron per manufacturers instructions. Serve hot with syrup or berries. Makes 10 waffles about 4 1/2 inches.
