Devonshire Scones

PC021291

I really liked these scones because they have oatmeal in them. That makes them healthier, huh! They have a great flavor with the brown sugar and oatmeal. They are also pretty easy to make.

Devonshire Scones

1 1/2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cups rolled oats (I used quick)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cups butter

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Heat oven to 375.

In a bowl whisk all the dry ingredients. Cut the butter in with a pastry blender until it looks like peas. Mix in the milk just until it comes together. Place the dough on a cookie sheet and pat into a circle and cut with a knife into 8 wedges. Brush with butter. I added a sprinkle of organic sugar on top because the kids love that. If you haven’t used organic sugar, it has a large grain to it and works great for rolling cookies too!
