GreenSoulShoes Helps Underprivileged Children

What Color Is Your Soul?

Our mission is to shoe underprivileged children around the world in a sustainable fashion.  We aim to shoe one million shoeless children in five years. We are a social enterprise that provides a global marketplace for global shoemakers and artisans. For every pair of shoes or eco-friendly product sold, we also give away a pair to a barefoot child in the same community.

“The shoes are a symbol of something greater. It’s a message about hope.”  -Ron Hunter

More than 300 million impoverished children go without shoes every day. That is more than every man, woman, boy, and girl living in the United States. Yet, those 300 million children, with no shoes to protect their feet from injury and disease, depend on shoes as their primary mode of transportation. The need is great.

Shoes bring self-esteem and eliminate this first stigma of poverty; it gives access to other resources--in many places for example, children without shoes are not allowed to go to school, creating a circular problem of poverty and lack of education.

GreenSoul Shoes works with local artisans to manufacture sandals made from recycled material.  Our first line of sandals are made with 100% recycled rubber tires and inner tubes.  We provide artisans with a sources of income and a global market to sell their good.  For each pair of sandals sold, we donate a pair back to a child in need within the same community. We believe in the cradle to cradle approach.

In August 2009, we visited The philippines, where our story was born.  With the partnership of the Philippine Christian Foundation, we visited again the sites at Smokey Mountain.  The families living in this community depend on the sell of scraps (bottles, caps, metals, etc.) found in the dumpsite to survive.  One day without collecting would mean a day without dinner.  We did our first shoe donation in this community located in Navotas City, Manila.  150 children received a pair of GreenSoul Sandals.  We are proud to have started our work but we need your support to continue our mission.

Join the GreenSoul Movement by purchasing a pair of our sandals today!
