SOMbands Review and Giveaway

SOMbands reminds us that we can overcome life’s most challenging obstacles by changing our state of mind! It’s time to get out of your head and start living!

I was excited to do a review for SOMbands, since I’m a trail runner, I’m always trying to conquer some hill or mountain and it’s not getting any easier! It’s a mind over body thing for me and I have to remember the reward is the view at the top and that I’m on the top of the world feeling!

I really liked the Age is a State of Mind Somband. My friends and I climbed up the side of a steep mountain~ actually I should say crawled up, because this small mountain was super steep~there was one point when my friend was urging me up and I was thinking about how she’s 10 years younger than me, and I looked down at my Somband and read Age is just a state of Mind~I looked up and picked a point and crawled up and then I just kept going on up. When I got to the top it was such a feeling of accomplishment! I love conquering a mountain and I’ll take whatever help I can get getting there!

Chauncey wore the Pain is just a State of Mind Somband to swim practice, he just made the high school swim team and he knows he has to swim his fastest now. He said it’s given him a boost! Chauncey is a freshman this year and he’s swimming in a lane with senior boys at practice (and these guys are fast) and he is keeping up with them!

SOMbands Color Psychology

Viewing and wearing certain colors can have a powerful effect on mood and psyche. SOMbands are designed to match and illicit a positive mood.  Here is the research behind the band colors and what they represent:

Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or using colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment.
In this treatment:

  • Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.
  • Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.
  • Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
  • Green was used to relieve stress and help heal.

In 1973, Francis M. Adams and Charles E. Osgood, two scientists at the University of Illinois, interviewed people from 23 cultures about how colors made them feel. They also reviewed all the existing scientific color studies (there were 89).  Here is what they found:

RED gave the most universal associations of strength, vitality and activity.  RED= passion, most attention, strength, energetic

GREEN is a cool color that symbolizes nature and the natural world.  It also represents tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy. Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect.

BLUE calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly. It can also lower the pulse rate and body temperature.

YELLOW has a dramatic effect of energizing you with 'happiness' vibes. Yellow= optimism, joy imagination, friendship, hope sunshine, summer

These are very cool! I have chronic pain from an accident years ago, so the Pain is a State of Mind would be perfect - but I also love the Happiness is a State of Mind because that's so true! sammiejanL40 at aol dot com
