A Winner, My Puppies and Brown Soda Bread

These are my cute puppies I'm selling. They are miniature schnauzer puppies. If you're interested in buying one, let me know, they are ready to adopt!

I want to announce the winner of the YoPlus Yogurt and Blogspark giveaway for the YoPlus Yogurt coupon and the lunch tote is -

number #7 Heather (I Digress)!

Congratulations Heather and thank you everyone for all your sweet comments and for following me! I have another contest for next week!

I found this recipe over at
MyRecipes and had to give it a try! I didn't have steel-cut oats, so I just used regular oatmeal. This bread is really easy to make and makes great toast and sandwiches! I t reminds me of a little story my mom told me ages ago. She said one of her friends told her that her husband didn't like her quick bread. My mom asked her why he didn't like it and she said he hates sandwiches on date nut bread! I would never thought of making sandwiches out of a quick bread, but this bread works for it.

Brown Soda Bread

2 1/2 cups wholewheat flour
1/2 cup steel-cut oats (such as McCann's)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups low-fat buttermilk
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Heat oven to 325 degrees.

Spray 9 x 5–inch loaf pan with Pam.

Lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups, and level with a knife. Combine flours and next 6 ingredients (through salt). Combine buttermilk and egg; add to flour mixture. Stir just until combined.

Spoon the mixture into prepared pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 5 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Invert bread onto a wire rack; cool completely. Slice.

they are sooo adorable. how much are you asking for them? is the tail clipped? do you clip the ears? I grew up with miniature schnauzers and just love them. I have a lot of convincing my husband, but I'm working on it.
