The first day of school and Deep Dark Brownies

Ok, we kind of have a funny sense of humor at our house! I though it would be fun to do a body outline at the kids schools. They are both going to a new school today, new for them. So yesterday we went over to Sloan's school and Chauncey laid down and we traced around him! Sloan wouldn't lay down and let us trace around her.

Isn't that a fun outline! Sloan said it will be hard not to tell anyone that she knows who it is!

Chauncey didn't want to do it at his school, but Sloan and I sneaked over and did it anyway! I can't wait to hear what he says about it after school!

This one looks like a girl in a tutu!

Both kids all ready for another school year, and I would rather have them home!

Here's the brownies that will be waiting for them after school! Who can resist, deep dark chocolate!

Deep Dark Chocolate Brownies

4 squares unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
1 1/4 cup flour (add 2 more tablespoons for high altitude)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat the oven to 350. Spray a 9x13 pan with Pam.

In a medium bowl melt the chocolate and the shortening in the microwave. I do 20 seconds each time and stir in between.

In a bowl whisk the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a mixer beat the eggs, vanilla and sugar. Add the chocolate mixture and mix well. Mix in the dry ingredients.

Spread in prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes. Let cool then slice into squares.

Oh my gosh. I just about started crying! I can't believe they are so big. I keep picturing that FIRST picture of the two of them on their first day of school. *sniff, sniff*
