Chocolate Chip Scones for Breakfast

I made the kids chocolate chip scones for breakfast this morning. I got them all done, looking pretty with sugar crystals on the top when my son said "where's the frosting?" Not wanting to disappoint him, I whipped out a bowl and made a glaze!

Chocolate Chip Scones
2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1/2 to 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Put the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix with a whisk. Cut in the shortening until it looks like meal. Add the milk and chocolate chips. Knead about 10 times on a floured covered counter. Pat into a ball and then flatten into a circle about 3/4 inches thick. Cut into 12 or so wedges. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. You can sprinkle the top with sugar or drizzle a glaze over them when they come out of the oven.

Glaze
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix until lump free with a whisk, then drizzle over hot scones.
