I found this recipe in a cookbook I got at the library. The mixing directions are kind of different because you mix the butter and shortening in with the dry ingredients. This cake has a really nice texture and a nice light chocolate flavor.
Chocolate Pound Cake
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 eggs
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Spray a bundt pan with Pam.
In the bowl of an electric mixer dry whisk the flour, sugar and cocoa together.
Gradually add the butter, shortening, and milk and beat on medium speed until smooth. Add the baking powder and salt and beat until incorporated.
On medium speed, add the vanilla and the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool the cake for 10 minutes then remove from pan and cool completely.
Glaze
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons cocoa
milk
Whip the powdered sugar, cocoa and butter and drizzle in enough milk to make a nice glaze. Drizzle over cooled cake.
