I did a Valentine's Swap a while back, and I wanted to share what I got! It was a lot of fun putting my box together for my swap partner!
I thought these cookies would be fun for Valentine's Day. They were really fun to make. I love the way the Jolly Ranchers look when they melt, just like stained glass! The kids really liked these cookies.
Heart Cut Out Sugar Cookies
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla (sometimes I like to use almond extract)
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
A few drops red food coloring (optional)
Jolly Rancher's candy, remove wrappers
In a bowl whisk the flour, salt and baking powder.
In a mixer beat the sugar and butter for 3 minutes. Beat in the eggs. red food coloring and vanilla.
Mix in the dry ingredients. Put in a covered bowl in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out half the dough on a floured surface. Cut into large hearts and use a smaller heart cutter to cut out a center heart. Transfer to cookie sheets. If you don't have parchment paper spray the inside heart with Pam and put a Jolly Rancher in the hole. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool for a couple of minutes before you remove the cookies to a rack to cool.
