The texture of these scones was great and the whole wheat gave them a nutty flavor, then their is the burst of lemon with chocolate chips, yum! I like putting a glaze on scones because the left overs last better. The glaze kind of seals in the goodness! These scones mix up really fast because you don't have to cut in any butter, just stir in the sour cream!
Whole Wheat Lemon Sour Cream Scones With Chocolate Chips
1 cups flour
The texture of these scones was great and the whole wheat gave them a nutty flavor, then their is the burst of lemon with chocolate chips, yum! These scones mix up really fast because you don't have to cut in any butter, just stir in the sour cream!
Whole Wheat Lemon Sour Cream Scones With Chocolate Chips
1 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 - 1/3 cup water
Zest of 1 lemon
1 cup chocolate chips
heat oven to 450 degrees.
Whisk the dry ingredients in a bowl, add the lemon zest and whisk again. Add the sour cream and 1/4 cup water. Mix with a wooden spoon until it comes together adding more water if necessary. Add chocolate chips and form into form a ball. Pat onto a floured surface about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into wedges with a knife or board scraper.. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Just found your blog and I have to say - it is absolutely amazingly gorgeous! WOW! Mine is smilinggreenmom.com if you ever want to stop by :) I love the look of this recipe. We try to eat lots of whole foods and our favorite flour for baking is Kamut Khorasan Wheat since it it full of vitamins and minerals...this is a must try! Thanks for sharing it!!
