Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls
I made up this recipe with Sloan in mind. We all know how she loves to start her day with chocolate! She ate 3 for breakfast this morning and said, we need to have these more often!
Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls
2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
Filling
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Frosting
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/4 cup butter, melted
3-4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
For Cinnamon Rolls
Heat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray a 8x8 inch pan with Pam.
In a bowl whisk the dry ingredients, cut in the shortening with a pastry blender until fine crumbs are formed. Add the milk and mix with a wooden spoon until it just comes together.
Knead on a floured surface 4-5 times. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick. Spread the butter over the top and sprinkle with the sugar, cinnamon and chips.
Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 9 pieces with a knife. Place in prepared pan and bake for 15-18 minutes or until nicely browned.
For Frosting
In a bowl whisk the powdered sugar and cocoa. Add the milk, butter and vanilla and beat with a mixer until smooth. Spread over hot rolls. Sprinkle with another tablespoon of mini chocolate chips.

Oh Carol! Can you adopt me? Long distance???? ;)
My kids love cinnamon rolls with chocolate chips, I have used chocolate frosting yet...just white buttercream. Thanks for stopping by and you sure can post about the Cinnamon Muffins after you give them a try.
Thanks for visiting. It's always fun to meet people who live close by. I'm going to have to make those chocolate cinnamon rolls. They look so yummy. I'm having a giveaway this week if you'd like to stop by. Have a great day!
